WEB Ebrahim Raisi, a hardline cleric close to the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has been elected president of Iran. The 63-year-old Raisi was the clear favorite in an election that was widely seen as rigged in his favor. Several prominent candidates were disqualified from running, and Raisi's supporters were accused of voter intimidation and fraud.
